Midway through my summer project: reaching a lot of my goals. They are intermixed with one another: getting to relearn who my old friends and relatives have become, promoting classes and art, teaching, enjoying the lush Pennypack woods without getting Lyme disease, and living the cafe society life: that is, being at the Be Well Cafe most of the day painting and visiting. Last weekend was very busy with a workshop and opening so now I am back at the Poconos recovering and gearing up for the next phase. I decided to form a discussion group about the fear of making and marketing art: let's see if people are too afraid to come to that! I know many people feared taking an art class and I do understand it. They are afraid of looking bad or not being able to learn. Or wasting money. They don't know who the heck I am to parade into my old home town with 38 paintings and multiple class offerings. I get it. But once in marketing mode you have to stay on the left side of your brain and not take any rejection personally. I will be in creative mode again soon enough. Yesterday I was traveling by a lake in the mountains with my favorite music playing really loud with no particular place to go and that's a peak moment! Oh that magic feeling, no where to go. Time to stare at the lake and reflect and plan.
